I have been an independent business owner most of my professional
life, founding companies to execute my vision — originally software,
now e-commerce and information sharing.
The Transparency Project (http://transparency.is)
My life's work all advances the ideal of transparency:
public understanding of origins and intent - commercially and socially.
TripleFair will be an e-commerce portal
facilitating transactions based on friends and demographics, also facilitating
consumer awareness, local business, and social networking for a community of
advice exchange.
ideaPush.org is a not-for-profit
internet community and NYC salon group, that aims to improve lives by undoing
bad "common knowledge" and prejudices caused by private, corporate,
and government interests.
“Being
Transparent” is a book that will lay out
a roadmap for integrating transparency into daily life, to improve business
and personal success.
Earlier in life, I have
worked as a software engineer, magazine editor and writer, photographer, print
shop manager, and as an amateur racing
cars and playing competitive pool.
I hold a BA in Electronic Music and Composition from Bennington College.
I am self-trained in software, which I have taught on a collegiate level. I am currently in the IMD Executive MBA program.
Affiliations include YEO,
a young entrepreneurs peer group;
Carnegie Hall,
where I am a ‘notable’ patron;
The Morgan Library,
where I am a 'young associate', The Electronic
Music Foundation, where I am
a founding patron, Sugarbush
Soaring,
where I fly sailplanes; The
Aspen Institute
and its group of young thinkers, the Socrates
Society; and my favorite: the invitation-only TED
Conferences, which bring together the great leaders of technology, entertainment,
and design.
